NC SHIIP Program
Medicare Open Enrollment Period
The Medicare Open Enrollment Period takes place each year from October 15th to December 7th. Call to schedule an appointment with one of our SHIIP counselors.
The NC Department of Insurance recommends reviewing Medicare plans annually.
Help Preserve Funding for SHIIP
Due to proposed federal budget cuts, State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP) are in danger of losing significant funding.
With eliminated federal funding, NCSHIIP would be severely impacted and would not be able to provide the same high level of service. Partner agencies would have to find new ways to help beneficiaries who need Medicare information and counseling. Please help us reach out to our legislators to let them know we want SHIP to stay funded! For more information on how to contact legislators, please call Lincoln County Senior Services at 704-736-8811 or visit the NCSHIIP website, www.ncshiip.com.
Medicare questions? High drug costs? We can help!
Seniors' Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is a consumer information division of the North Carolina Department of Insurance that assists people with Medicare, Medicare Part D, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage, and long-term care insurance questions.
We also help citizens recognize and prevent Medicare billing errors and possible fraud and abuse through our NC Senior Medicare Patrol (NCSMP) Program. For people with limited income and resources, Extra Help with Drug Costs may be available!
How do North Carolinians contact SHIIP? You can contact SHIIP by dialing 855-408-1212, or by visiting on the web at www.ncshiip.com.
For local assistance, please call Lauren Heavner, Lincoln County SHIIP Coordinator at 704-736-8811.
